DNR Regulations

The DNR annually distributes a waterfowl pamphlet each year to update new changes in waterfowl guidelines, as well as post the time tables for shooting hours. Most of the rules and regulations carry over from year to year, but try to pick one of the pamphlets up each year to get the newest info. Some of their license fees and costs can be found on the
Michigan DNR web page.

* Everyone is required to shoot a nontoxic load. Steel, bismuth, tungsten (matrix, iron, polymer, etc.), and hevi-shot are all exceptable.
*A plug is also required in the gun, so it may only hold a maximum of 3 shells.

 Michigan License and Stamp Fees

A Michigan small game license is the first requirement on the checklist. Ducks and geese are considered small game. The prices vary from age to age. Currently (2001-2002),

If a person is age 16 or under, the small game license is all that is required for the individual to hunt.

If a person is over the age of 16, they must purchase:
                                 >A small game license
                                  >A federal duck stamp
                                  >A state duck stamp (put onto the small game license)

Non-Resident licenses will be more expensive!!!
