What is Ultimate Frisbee?

Ultimate Frisbee is sometimes described as a conglomerate of the more commonly known sports football, soccer, and many others. The truth is, however, that Ultimate frisbee is entirely unique though it may encompass rules and regulations similar to those in other sports. The non-contact sport of Ultimate frisbee consists of two teams trying to score points by successfully advancing a frisbee through completed passes into a marked endzone, typically designated by cones. The game is conducted in a fluid manner where offense and defense can change immediately.

Upon any unsuccessful attempt by the offense to complete a pass to a fellow team member, a turnover occurs. A turnover may occur through an incompleted pass, an interception of the frisbee by the defense, or a travel. Running is allowed for anyone EXCEPT THE PLAYER HANDLING THE DISC. The thower(the person with the disc) is allowed only the steps needed to come under control after making a succesful catch, usually a max of 3, and to establish a pivot foot. The thrower must keep the pivot foot in the same place and in contact with the ground to prevent a travel, which results in an immediate turnover. A proper game consists of 7 on 7 for an outdoor pitch and 5 on 5 for an indoor pitch.

This is just a quick overview and does not incorporate all the rules of the game nor does it cover any complex strategies. If you would like more information you can check out he following links below.
