December 2006- We are getting ready to make 2 cakes for Cindy's daughter's birthday. That girl has so many parties- it's unreal! I think they are going to be Barbie and Horses. I'll keep you posted!
Taylor's cakes are done. One was Barbie and the other was a Care Bear- a smashing success. Although, if you look close enough, the Barbie candle had to have emergency rhinoplasty. When Julie tried to fix it with frosting, Taylor said that Julie ruined her cake. Drama!
November 2006- My birthday month and I was *promised* a Kevin Harvick cake, but we were too busy. That's OK, there's always next year!
October 2006- Time for Louie!! The only cake this month is the one for my boss' daughter. Our favorite, hands down. The LV's are color flow- a MAJOR PAIN, they kept breaking!! It turned out OK, though!
September 2006- We're trying to slow down now- schools' back. Here's the General Lee
We were also sort of guilted into making a cake for the woman from the post office, he kids are throwing her a surprise party. We caved and it's pretty cool!
We also had a cake to do for Julie's friend Detra again- for her grandma's birthday- it's a carrot cake!!
Looks like we really slowed down, huh?
August 2006- School is around the corner and we did a few more cakes for the post office poeple. The lady who wanted the Lions and Tigers cakes requested them again, AND a General Lee in September!
The other postal worker wanted a Sterling Marlin cake for his wife.
We also did a birthday cake for one of Cindy's day care kids, Wyatt. This one is cool.
And the Baby Einstein Cake:
July 2006- Wedding Fever and big bummer. Mom's course 3 (about tiered cakes) was CANCELLED, but the wedding is at the end of the month. YIKES! On a plus side Julie's mother-in-law was showing pictures of our cakes around and it actually netted us some business. The people who work at the post office are extrememly interested in cakes. Especially the Tigers one. They also ordered a Lion's cake (who knows why- lol).
Then the wedding. We survived with minor mishaps. Damn funny if you ask me. So, we borrowed Cindy's van to transport the cakes and even with both seats out, it was a tight squeeze. Plus, we had to drive them to Whitehall which is about 1.5 hours away from Fennville and it was the hottest day of the year. Not even 1/2 mile from our home, there is a breaking problem (read: Julie kinda slammed on them) and the cakes kinda slid into eachother. Oops. But, they made it there in one piece and were soooo good!
I've been showing my boss pictures of our cakes and she wants one for her daughter's sweet 16- a Louis Vuitton- we'll see how that turns out.
Julie also volunteered our services for her friend Detra's son's first birthday! It's a Baby Einstein theme and we are making chocolate transfer animals. We as in Julie, of course! They are a big pain in the butt, so fragile, they are always breaking.
June 2006- Schools out for Julie and I and now we can really have some fun with. Corky and Cindy graduated course 2 and Corky signed up for Course 3 because she volnteered us to MAKE A WEDDING CAKE!!!! No pressure, right? The first of the month had us hopping. We made an anniversary cake for Aunt Barb- 1 year owning Curves!
Mid month we also made our first huge cake, complete with fondant.
In addition to everything- Julie decided to make her mother-in-law a Tigers Cake because she is obsessed with them. Little did we know that this cake would start it all.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST- we took off to Woodridge, IL to go to the Wilton Tent sale. SO MUCH FUN and we got a lot of things for half off. Can't wait til next year!!!
May 2006- Corky and Cindy just started their Course 2- here's the one and only cake they did. this is where they learned about Color Flow and the Basket Weave technique.
April 2006- First and formost- Happy Birthday to Brandon. He came into the world on April Fools Day at 3:55 p.m. and he is gorgeous!!! Wanting to do something nice for the ladies at her doctor's office, Julie made a baby cake for them.
March 2006- Not much going on. Corky and Cindy are finished with their classes- a SUCCESS, they both passed! We are all busy planning Julie's baby shower- little Brandon will be here before we know it! Corky and Cindy also signed up for course 2, it will start in May.
February 2006- Corky and Cindy started taking classes. Their first cake was a simple rainbow cake and they looked awesome!! Julie and I were bummed that we missed out on going to the decorating classes- Julie has class that night and I had a previous engagement. It would've been fun to learn with them. They also did a "clown" cake that was pretty awesome. I'm really mad at myself that I didn't take any pictures. Correction- the pictures are on my phone and I don't know how to get them off of it. ):
January 2006- Corky and Cindy signed up for the cake decorating classes (the Wilton Method) at Hobby Lobby- it's set to start up in February. They are very excited!! Here are some cakes to check out that we did before we started the business.
