I
am a boy scout so I go camping all the time. Usually, we have a
monthly campout and a week in early July for summer camp. Every
January, there is a campout we do called the polar bear, during
which we set up shelters and sleep in them one or two nights in the
cold weather. After one of those, I definitely learned how to
handle those after my fist year. I will never be unprepared for a
campout again. One year, it snowed 3 feet in one night so the
snow was good insullation for our shelter. I have also
camped with my family and friends before.
Some of my best memories will be my memories of camping as
a kid and teenager. I love the moments of sitting around the fire
late at night, singing songs, telling jokes, and acting out skits with
friends. Some of my most favorite of these memories will be the
campouts where it was bad weather all weekend long. Out of all
the scout camps I have been to, about 75% of them were in bad weather,
and of all those on three or four we had gale force winds. Those
are truly the funnest. I love the outdoors and wish I could live
that way forever. | |
