The Original Six is a term used to describe the six hockey teams that were originated from the beginning of the 1942 NHL season, all the way up to the NHL expansionin 1967 Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadians, New York Rangers, Chicago Black Hawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Detroit Red Wings. Each of these teams were founded and introduced into the NHL between the years of 1917 and 1926. While only these few teams would play each other over and over for 40 consecutive years, teams began to have a specific feeling towards many players and organizations as a whole, creating the rivalries and disregards between NHL teams today.
