I am majoring in History at Grand Valley State University and am heading into my senior year at the University.  My emphasis is in the Medieval and Renaissance eras of History. Outside of school I participate in Renaissance Festivals around the state.  I have been invloved in Renassance reinactments since 1996.  I also participate in sword fighting, costuming and acting, and also teaching. I have always enjoyed passing on the love, or at least some of knowledge, that I have learned concerning the Renaissance and Medieval times and history in general. I also take pride in my Scotch/Irish heritage and am currently learning how to play bagpipes.

 
 
My minor is in elementary education.  I believe that children today, more than ever, need a strong role model in their lives sooner than any other generation before them.  I am ready to be that role model to the children in my classrooms and my life.  Inspiring children is one of the greatest gifts that we as adults can ever give them.  I am excited to be going into a field in which I will be able to positively make an influence in a the life of children.

Fine Arts Page:
This page simply expresses the importance of fine arts in the public school system.  During these hard economic times, many schools are choosing to cut the music and art programs from elementary schools and also from junior high and high schools around the country.  I am a living testament to the importance of teaching fine arts in schools.
