Homeless Joe
Homeless Joe’s got no where to go
He whistles a tune that he made on
his own
His pockets are empty his clothes are
in shreds
All of the town folk would turn up
their heads
It’s amazing the things that some
money can do
Wealthy people don’t know what it’s
like to feel blue
Money earns you respect and showcases
success
But a poor man’s water is a treasure
chest
You’ve got to learn to love all the
things that you got
Not the possessions you purchased
that you like a lot
So when they slip him a twenty it
doesn’t go down the drain
He burns it to warm himself after the
rain…
His hand me down boots and his house
made of paper
Are better up kept than the mansion
off Bleecker
He’s traveled the world in the same
pair of shoes
He’s not afraid of a challenge with
nothing to lose
One day you’ll remember the story of
Joe
When you’ve lost your status and
misplaced your dough
You’ll wish you were someone a little
more humble
When you’re broken down and begin to
stumble
