The
East Race is a class 2 whitewater course located in South Bend, Indiana
along Niles Avenue. It normal flows at a rate of 450-500 cubic feet per
second. The course is man made and was first opened in
1984. It is one of only three man made white water courses in the
United States. The East Race is about 1900 feet long and takes about 5
minutes
to raft down. The course was home to the 2004 olympic kayaking time
trials.
