  • Emergency placement of vice president and Budget Planning Chairperson
    • Emergency election will take place at a future meeting.  Those wishing to fill these positions must be nominated and will be elected to the position with 2/3 member votes
  • Recruitment
    • Need a special committee (2-6 members) to start composing flyers and organize their distribution.  This committee will be in contact with the president and will be expected to have finished the flyers within two weeks of its appointment.  The flyer distribution will be composed of the committee members and volunteers from the general members.  Flyers will be divided into three (3) subjects: (1) freshman recruitment, (2) upperclassmen recruitment, and (3) general recruitment
      • Freshman Recruitment:  goal to enlist freshman by stressing the importance of networking and becoming involved early in their college career.
      • Upperclassmen Recruitment:  goal to enlist upperclassmen by stressing community service and other events.
      • General Recruitment:  goal to concisely state what the FPEA is an enlist members based on this.
    • Michael VanDam proposed he would develop suggestions for possible flyers, to be presented at the December 1st meeting.
  • Constitutional Amendments will be voted on at the December 1st meeting.  Review Constitution.
  • Confidence Seminar.
    • Update.
  • Possible Chairperson: Student Organization Liason
    • Description
      • This person will serve as a liaison between the FPEA and other GVSU student organizations such as PALs, Habitat, Spotlight, and others.  This chairperson must have effective communication skills and will be expected to contact other organizations and establish a relationship.  The purpose of this position is to increase networking and allow a cooperative effort in community service and event planning.

      • Group date: October 29th (Friday) & October 30th (Saturday)

        • Suggestions included GVSU Officer Morningstar to present a Self-Defense class and administration from local schools.

  • Secretary announced lack of Quorum.  Members present voted to continue meeting.
  • Voting for Vice President:
    • Ryan Chadderton is the new vice president of the FPEA.
  • Recruitment
    • Michael VanDam presented two ideas for flyers to be posted in the Winter 2005 semester.  Group voted on flyer wording.  Ryan Chadderton will complete graphic design of flyers.
  • Constitutional Amendments:
    • The following additions/rephrasings passed unanimously:
      • ARTICLE TWO Rephrased to:
        • "The purpose of this organization is to facilitate networking with peers, professionals, and professors in the criminal justice and education fields, both on and off campus, through community service, fundraising, and various events.  By being an active participant in the Grand Valley State University and surrounding communities, we will develop ties with other organizations, both student and professional, that will allow us to provide our members with increased employment opportunities upon graduation, and also facilitate an understanding for the importance of the relationship between individuals in the criminal justice and education fields."
      • ARTICLE THREE Rephrased to:
        • "As opportunities arise, the Future Police and Educators Association will cooperate with various other student and professional organizations both on and off campus to increase opportunities for community service and various other events pertaining to the criminal justice and education fields."
      • ARTICLE FOUR, 4.1.3 2nd sentence rephrased to:
        • "This fee will benefit the program and its members as it will cover unexpected expenses not requested in the annual budget."
      • ARTICLE FIVE, SECTION TWO, 5.2.3 Amendment added:
        • "Each Executive Board member will be required to produce proof that s/he is enrolled for at least six semester hours of credit at Grand Valley State University and that s/he has maintained a 2.0 cumulative grade point average."
      • ARTICLE EIGHT, 8.1.1 Rephrased to:
        • "The first general assembly meeting of the fall and winter semesters shall be held within the first three weeks of the semester."
      • 8.1.2 Rephrased to:
        • "General Assembly meetings shall be held twice a month during the first and third weeks (if school is in session) and located at Kirkhof."
  • H.O.P.E.
    • This organization plans to work with HOPE of Grand Rapids to set up tutoring tables during the Winter 2005 semester.
  • Member dues were collected from Michael VanDam, Veronica Stevens, and Nicole Munsey
  • Members who have not accepted their membership through the student life website were sent another email reminding them to register.
  • Community Service business:
    • Jeff Arbogast announced there will be a blood drive in the Pere Marquette Room 204 at Kirkhof on Monday, December 6th, from 2 - 8 p.m.  If you do not want to give blood, you can also go to the site on that day and volunteer to work.
    • A food drive for the Winter 2005 semester was proposed by Jeff Arbogast.  Plans will be developed at the first meeting of that semester.
  • Fundraising business:
    • A check for $150 is being mailed to the FPEA for its participation in the Kentwood Jaycees "Forest of Fear '04"
  • Events business:
    • Ryan Chadderton will organize a "Self Defense Class" to be hosted by Officer Morningstar of the GVSU public safety department
    • The FPEA will host a table at the January 8th men's/women's basketball game.  The table will be manned by Jeff Arbogast, Ryan Chadderton, and Corey Ellenberger.  Flyers, candy, and member registration will be passed out.
  • The next meeting will be announced via email.
