Sandy Pines Welcome SignActivities At Sandy Pines

With all the excitement of children being off school for the summer, and endless possibilities, the first questions of the day might be what to do first. Sandy Pines offers a wide variety of activities for visitors and members of all ages to enjoy.

For the kids, there are many activities daily, special activities for the holidays, and unique events put on specifically by the Sandy Pines Recreation Staff throughout the summer. The variety of daily activities available range from swimming lessons and tennis lessons, to kids clubs, and sports clinics. The swim lessons are just about every Monday through Friday, starting at 9:00 A.M. and can accommodate for all levels. They are labeled one through six, but basically can be broken down into beginners, intermediates, and advanced levels. But for those who graduate from these levels, they even have a swim club, called Paraná s, which will begin competing at meets with nearby teams in this coming summer! For tennis lessons, there are beginner, intermediate, advance, and high school drill. I am one of the coaches for these lessons and I can say from experience that the kids learn a lot of the basics, compete to advance, and have lots of fun with all the games that we incorporate into the lessons. Next, the kids club is a great way for kids of the campground to get outside, play games, create fun crafts suited for their age group, read and listen to stories centered around each week’s specific theme, as well as meet many other kids their age. Finally, there are a few different sports clinics offered each month for kids of all ages. These are lead by members of the recreation staff who are skilled in each sport. Just a few of these include basketball, volleyball, bicycling, running, track and field, soccer, and baseball.

Second, Sandy Pines hosts a few holidays that are not normally during the  summer months, but  they allow a few such as Christmas-to be in August, Halloween-to be in July, as well as celebrate the one that is during the summer, Fourth of July. For Halloween, there is a trunk-or-treat activity, where the kids dress up and go trick or treating around in the park, and for Christmas in August, there are parades, lights set up, and even if they are lucky, Santa comes to the park to share gifts!

Finally, there are even more events put on for the kids of the park to enjoy throughout the summer. These include: the kids triathlon, Vacation Bible School, the lock-in, remote control car races, movie nights, sports tournaments, kids buried treasure digs, and even more!

For teens, adults, and seniors, there are even activities throughout the summer geared toward their interests. For teens, there is the teen club and pre-teen club, which is much like kids club, but they get together and go to places such as the Whitecaps, have teen only swim at the water park, and countless other special events.

For adults, there is the adult only open swim, the gym, the adult recreation center, and sports tournaments, lessons, and other activities just for them. Furthermore, for those elderly folks who want to have fun, there are even activities just for them! Such as the  (elderly)50 and older softball leagues, bus trips, potlucks, and even more throughout the summer.
