Stock Market

This week we will be studying the stock market.  We will split up into groups of three people per group and learn about the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Each group will get to choose two companies in the NYSE to analyze and follow for the next week.

Racing Stock:

We will have a competition this week.  Each group will have one day to research the companies in the NYSE and have to find three companies they think are growing.  On Wednesday, we will have each group  two companies that they want to represent.  If two groups have the same company, then a drawing of names will determine the winner of the company.  Once all of the groups have chosen their two companies, then each group must write a short summary on the companies and why they were chosen. Thursday, we will have short presentations on each company. Friday, the data will be analyzed and the group, who chooses the company with the largest stock growth from Wednesday to Friday, will win.

Monday:

What do all of these numbers mean?  How do I know what is a good company?  Well we will explore the NYSE website and find out.  Go to this link:  www.nyse.com
