Welcome to the Grand Valley State University Athletic Training Program website. Our program was one of the first two accredited programs in the State of Michigan and was founded in 1978. Currently, it consists of 43 students, 3 full-time faculty members, 6 adjunct professors, and 2 graduate assistants. Students in our program begin their learning in introductory courses and progress to on-the-field athletic training experiences. One semester of off-site intership experience is included in our program. Students are able to choose a setting of their liking for this internship.

Career Opportunities

In cooperation with physicians and other allied health personnel, the athletic trainer functions as an integral member of the health care team. Certified athletic trainers can be found almost anywhere people are physically active. Examples of employment settings include:
