Dear Personnel Manager:

My name is Brenda and I am a senior at Grand Valley State University working on my degree in accounting. When I graduate I plan to take the Certified Public Accountant’s exam. Expected graduation is winter 2002 and I will set for the exam in May 2003.

I have a wide range of accounting experience. I enjoy all areas of accounting and have worked in different industries. I have experience in and have been involved in the accounting for industrial distribution, a service industry and nonprofit accounting. I would like to experience the field of auditing but my long-range goal is to become a tax accountant. I like very much the idea of working for one firm and having a few to several different clients to work with.

This goal of becoming a CPA started back several years ago. I am a nontraditional student and have been taking evening courses throughout the years. I have a family and have always had a full time job to jungle courses around. My family is very supportive and that has made this goal closer to becoming reality. I have been in the office environment for several years and know and understand the way in which it runs. I have always been able to conduct myself with professionalism and get along with co-workers and other associates and supervisors.
