| NETS Standards I. Technology Operations and Concepts: Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts. A. I demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of concepts related to technology. I am proficient with such operations as word processing, creating spreadsheets, creating power point presentations, designing web pages, creating digital stories, blogging, audio editing, and creating podcasts. B. I demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies. I attended a technology conference at Grand Valley's Pew Campus. I have been learning and using new technologies for many of my classes.
II. Planning and designing learning environments and experiences: Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by technology. A. Design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of learners. I have created a unit plan including a technology component for my teaching literature class. B. Apply current research on teaching and learning with technology when planning learning environments and experiences. I adapted my unit plan to the ASSURE lesson plan format. C. Identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability. I have made a collection of links that can be helpful for any German student. D. Plan for the management of technology resources within the content of learning activities. I have accomplished this in my unit plan and ASSURE lesson plan. E. Plan strategies to manage student learning in a technology-enhanced environment. I can use the websites that I listed under links to help students learn with technology.
III. Teaching, learning and the curriculum: Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning. I have shown proficiency in the following skills with my unit plan, ASSURE lesson plan, and list of links. A. Facilitates technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards and student technology standards. B. Use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students. C. Apply technology to develop students’ higher order skills and creativity. D. Manage student-learning activities in a technology-enhance environment.
IV. Assessment and Evaluation: Teachers apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies. I will, in the future, demonstrate these proficiencies by creating multiple tests and projects centered around technology that can be used to evaluate students. A. Apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using a variety of assessment techniques. B. Use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate finds to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning. C. Apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students’ appropriate use of technology resources for learning, communication and productivity.
V. Productivity and professional practice: Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice. A. Use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning. I have learned to use the Google Reader site to aggregate articles on specific subjects and continue my professional development and lifelong learning. B. Continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning. As a teacher I will constantly evaluate my methods and plans and search for way to improve them. C. Apply technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and the larger community in order to nurture student learning. I am proficient in using e-mail for communication and also in blogging as a way of discussion and communication.
VI. Social Ethical, Legal, and Human Resources: Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal and human issues surrounding the use of technology in PK-12 schools and apply that understanding in practice. As a teacher I will follow and teach ethical technology use. I will use technology in projects and lessons in order to assist all students in learning to use technology. I will be sure to supply students with access to technology as I teach them about and give them experience with it. A. Model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology use. B. Apply technology resources to enable and empower learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities. C. Identify and use technology resources that affirm diversity. D. Promote safe and healthy use of technology resources. E. Facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all students. | |||
