| PRSSA has meetings once a week with all members. The meetings usually have themes and can be entirely devoted to general announcements, committee work, guest speakers, and homework help. Everyone joins a committee based on their interest, such as fundraising, public relations work outside of PRSSA, activities, networking, etc. The groups work on small projects related to their committee. PRSSA members have the chance to attend the PRSA National Conference each fall. This allows students to network with PRSSA students from all around the country and possibly with PR professionals enabling students to gain more PR skills. The GVSU PRSSA chapter also goes on agency tours, typically once a semester. In the past groups have gone to Chicago, and coming soon Detroit. Guest speakers are usually GVSU alumni who are now out in the field. They give you helpful information on how to write your resume, how to gain internships, etc. Basically, the group is a great networking opportunity for students majoring in public relations. |
