Statement of Objectives
A. Students will learn the definition of a noun.
B. Students will learn the definition of a verb.
C. The students will be able to identify a picture and place it under the correct heading.
D. Students will know how to write a noun and a verb.
Input
A. Terms such as noun and verb are going to be introduced.
Modeling
A. Teacher will demonstrate how to identify a noun and a verb using the blackboard.
B. Teacher will place a picture under the proper heading to demonstrate what the students will be doing.
C. Teacher will write a noun on one side of the notecard and a verb on the other side of the notecard to demonstrate what the students should do.
D. Act out the noun or verb on the notecard to show the students how to play the noun and verb charades game.
Check for Understanding
A. The students will demonstrate their understanding by placing the picture under the proper heading.
B. The students will demonstrate their understanding by participating in the noun and verb charades game.
Guided Practice
A. Teacher will walk around the room to see if any students need help writing a verb or noun on their notecard.
B. Students who demonstrate an understanding of the project will aid student who are having difficulty.
Independent Practice
A. Students will be given a worksheet that is to be completed for the following day.
B. Students will be given a folder to put homework into, and a timeline for due dates.
Closure
A. Teacher review key term, noun and verb.
B. Ask questions about nouns and verbs in a different context than what was presented.
Assessment
A. Test on the terms. Have students write out what each term means.
B. Have the students write out 5 sentences identifying the noun(s) and verb(s) in each sentence.
