Shot by an anarchist while in office, and died days later

Theodore Roosevelt
The Youngest President (43) to that point in our nation's history

Pushed for the construction of the Panama Canal
1901-1909
Was a strong advocate of conservation projects

William Taft
Civil Administrator in the Philippines prior to his presidency

Split the republican party by defending high tariff rates
1909-1913
T. Roosevelt left the republicans, ran as a progressive, and cost the republicans the election

Woodrow Wilson
Attempted to keep America neutral in World War One
28th President
Entered America into the War in order to make the world "safe for democracy"

Helped establish the FTC, to eliminate unfair business practices

Warren Harding
Won the presidency by over 60 percent of the popular vote
29th President
His administration continued to impose strict limits on immigration

While still in office, he had a heart attack in San Francisco CA, and died shortly thereafter

Calvin Coolidge
Sworn in to office by his father, whom he was visiting in Vermont when President Harding passed away

In his first term, he proposed tax cuts and limited aid to farmers

Chose not to run for re-election in 1928
