My Music

BandsBob Marley

One of my passions since as long as I can remember is music.  I listen to a variety of styles and a number of bands, some of which are difficult to place into a category.  Instead of trying to classify them as one genre or another, I will list some of my favorites.  Click on their names to visit their official websites if you are interested in learning more or listening to some samples!

Chiodos at Warped Tour
My favorite band of all, however is Chiodos, with lead singer Craig Owens pictured left.  They are a band from Davison, Michigan, who have recently begun to gain a lot of popularity.  I first heard them with my roommate at an Armor For Sleep concert.  They were the opening band, and they completed stole the show.  I have seen them four times total; twice in Grand Rapids, once in Toledo, Ohio, and once in Chicago, Illinois.  After the show in Chicago I got to meet with Craig Owens.  He currently has a side project, Cinematic Sunrise, that I will be seeing this summer.  Other bands I have seen in concert include Bayside, Taking Back Sunday, Armor For Sleep, The Used, Saosin, Senses Fail, Hawthorne Heights, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Starting Line, Silverstein, and many others.

Chiodos is somewhat hardcore though, and sometimes you need music that you can just relax too.  That is why I'm such a huge fan of Bob Marley.  Marley is easily one of the greatest artists of all time, and while people may not agree with some of his "habits", it is very hard to not enjoy his music and message.  You undoubtedly already know some of his hits, such as "Buffalo Soldier".  Other well known songs are "I Shot The Sherrif", "Could You Be Loved", "No Woman No Cry", "Jammin'", "Is This Love", "Get Up Stand Up", "Easy Skanking", and many others.  If you don't own anything by him, I suggest picking up Legend, a greatest hits cd.  This doesn't have nearly all the songs you would want, but it is a great start, and includes the essentials.
