Employability Skills WorkshopsThis 3-week series of 10 workshops is designed to help participants understand and practice the skills and behaviors that meet employer expectations and lead to self-reliance through long-term employment. Workplace Communication & Social Skills - 2 Parts Emphasis on placed on communicating effectively with co-workers & supervisors. Social Power of Positive Attitude and Behavior Individuals set positive realistic behavioral goals and measure their progress. Managing Workplace Stress and Anger Stress and anger triggers are identified and individuals learn to manage them before speaking. Using Support Systems While Working Toward Self-Reliance Positive support systems, job-related barriers and accommodations are identified. Career Assessment/ Identifying Transferable Skills Individuals identify jobs that are compatible with their skills and interests and learn how to understand job qualifications, work conditions and company culture. Surfing the Net - Computer Job Search and Employer Research The Internet is used to search for employment and to research employers. Job Retention: The Benefits of Long-term Employment Employer benefits and the importance of employee evaluations are discussed. Interviewing Skills - Effective Answers to Interview Questions Job descriptions and individual qualifications are reviewed and matched. Interviewing Skills - Create a Positive Image Individuals are taught the importance of creating a positive impression and practice introductions, answering questions and closing an interview. Mock Interviews and Follow-up Communication Mock interviews are conducted and comments are reviewed to identify areas that need improvement. Bringing It All Together and Graduation Reinforce Employability Skills and presentation of certificates and other awards.
