During
the summer of 2007, I went on a road trip with six of my friends. We
headed out to Rock Springs, Wyoming for a Rainbow Family Hippy
Gathering. One
of the girls, Holly, had this adorable, furry, and cuddly rat. After
the amazing gatheration, I decided I wanted a rat of my own.
I
had just gotten rid of my pommeranian, Cuddles, when I decided I still
wanted something to love. I just wanted something simpler than a dog or
cat. Rats are nice because they're easy and cheap to take care of.
Plus, they're extremely loyal to their owner.
One day I went
out to the pet store and asked one of the employees if I could hold a
rat. I put my hand in the cage and carefully chased the rats in it
around. One of them didn't run away from me at all, so I picked her up
and immediately fell in love. She was gray with a hazel tint to her
fur.
I took her home and decided on the name Missy,
because she came to it when I said it right away. At first, I got her
with another rat, Flirt, who was owned by my then roomate. However, we
both parted ways. I eventually persuaded my current roomate to get a
rat who we named Twitch.
This site is about those two rats, Missy and Twitch.
