PLEDGE FREE GUARANTEE

Lambda Chi Alpha was the first fraternity to create "Associate Membership." Through this action, we abolished pledging. Lambda Chi Alpha is proud to say that we will never treat a new member as a pledge.
We are dedicated to this principle, wanting our new men to feel that they are one of us, not our personal slaves. This is why, Lambda Chi Alpha will NOT subject our associates to a pledge period. You will never see us asking you to do something that we would not do ourselves or that you are uncomfortable doing. We give you our No Pledge Guarantee. Don’t pledge us... Join us!

BENEFITS OF ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Lambda Chi Alpha is unique in that as an associate member, you will be able to participate and even vote on chapter events. You will not be segregated into an "associate class," but integrated into the general fraternity, where you won't feel like an outsider or another number. You can even run for office if the opportunity arises.
One of the best things about associate membership at Lambda Chi Alpha is it gives the new member a time where he can decide if fraternal life is what he really wants. When you go out around to other Greek Organizations, ask questions: can you attend the general meetings before initiation, will you be in a pledge class where you have to go to separate meetings away from the initiated members, and can you vote during general fraternity meetings?
We think you'll see the benefits of an associate membership over a pledge period.

LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

In Lambda Chi Alpha, you will be given the opportunity to develop leadership abilities that will help you throughout your college career and beyond. These skills will be fostered by holding offices and working on committees in our fraternity and within the campus community. At Lambda Chi Alpha, there is always a leadership opportunity awaiting you.

SCHOLASTICS

Lambda Chi Alpha has a scholastic program that is second to none. We offer new associates an upper classman study partner tutorial program that automatically gives them college experience. This program offers oral class evaluations, extensive test files , class notes, papers for reference, and most importantly the members of the fraternity support your educational pursuits.
Lambda Chi Alpha stresses academics. After all, we are here for an education.

COST OF MEMBERSHIP

Lambda Chi Alpha's dues are $200 per semester.  Included in these dues are rush T-shirts, brotherhood events, socials, and a one million dollar international insurance policy while at all of our approved events. In addition to dues there are two one time fees on the road to brotherhood. One fees is for the materials to put a new man through Associate Membership Ceremony. This $55 is used to purchase his Associate Member pin and to purchase his Fraternity Education Manual. The other one time fee of $155 is to put an Associate through the initiation ritual and have him recognized internationally as a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. He  will forever receive The Cross and Crescent, a quarterly periodical published  by headquarters. This also grants the member the badge of Lambda Chi Alpha so that all may know he is an initiated member. In order to keep our dues low and still maintain quality events we fund raise several times a semester. Only in extreme circumstances should finances be a concern when joining  Lambda Chi Alpha. Our treasurer  has in place several programs to help brothers raise money for their personal dues.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A BROTHER

Brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha are at all times expected to hold each other accountable to live up to the standards and ideals of Lambda Chi Alpha.  Members are also expected  to participate actively with enthusiasm within the chapter. When our calendar is planed each semester  no more than three mandatory fraternity events a week are scheduled, although many members enjoy brotherhood bonding at additional events. Included in mandatory events are rush events, charity events, fundraisers, ritualistic affairs, and brotherhood events. Other fun activities that brothers enjoy taking part in include Greek Week, Home Coming, Socials with Sororities, Mixers with Fraternities, and of course parties. Once a semester Brothers take a turn in our Safe Ride program and usually take a turn serving on Party Patrol or clean up crew. Of course,  it is very important that members are well informed as to the current events of the chapter. Therefore mandatory meetings are held Sunday night at 7p.m. in the Muskegon River Room of Kirkhoff. These responsibilities help to reinforce our fraternal bond and allow us to accomplish much more than one man alone.

COMMON FACTS ABOUT FRATERNITIES

People who either don't know any better or were not in a fraternity or sorority, always seem to have something negative to say about Greek life. It is our opinion and a proven fact that Fraternities and Sororities provide a fun environment, where leadership and social skills are fostered and developed. These organizations produce graduates who are assets to the society in which we all live and belong. With that in mind, the following is some information to put things into perspective:

The first general fraternity (Kappa Alpha Society) was organized in 1750.

Of North Americas 50 largest corporations, 43 are headed by Fraternity men and Sorority women.

7 out of 10 people listed in Who's Who are Greek.

85% of Fortune 500 executives belong to a Fraternity or Sorority.

40 of 47 Supreme Court Justices since 1910 were Fraternity men.

76% of all Congressmen and Senators belong to a Fraternity or Sorority.

Every US President and Vice-President, except two in each office, born since the first social Fraternity was founded in 1825, and 3 Canadian Prime Ministers, have been members of a Fraternity.

Statistics show that Fraternity and Sorority members have a higher rate of graduation from college than do their non-member counterparts.
