Inspiration: an inspiring or animating action or influence.

From the lightest pulsation of a butterfly's wing to the the stoic Colosseum of Rome, it is only fitting that inspiration should find me; and that I should want to capture it in all its fidelity. Photography grants me that pleasure, the pleasure of securing life's most minute details, it's most sacred inspirations and sharing them with the people around me.

I was born February 24th, 1985 in beautiful Ludington Michigan to two wonderful parents, Mark and Carla Mayer. I grew up in Scottville, which is a small rural town just east of Ludington. My dad is a RAW Products Manager for a local canning company, while my mom is the Superintendent's Assistant at MCC Schools. I am the middle child with two sisters.

As a young girl I quickly took to posing our family pets. It wasn't long before I branched out to new models and new locals; choosing the gorgeous spring flowers and the white sandy beaches of my hometown in western Michigan. It's here that I found capturing Lake Michigan at sunset or a bumblebee stealing the sweetest nectar from a tulip only served to encourage me more down this path.

In high school, I again broadened my horizons. Joining the yearbook staff I was given the opportunity to chronicle my peers and the world around me for posterity. These experiences cemented my love for this medium and lead me to where I am today. I graduated from Mason County Central Schools in 2003.

Since then, I have obtained two associates degrees. I received an Associates of General Studies from West Shore Community College in 2005. I also received an Associates in Graphic Design from Ferris State University in 2008. Before leaving Ferris, I received the opportunity to travel to both Greece and Italy, documenting some of the most inspirational works of nature and man.

And while I plan to graduate this winter from Grand Valley State University with a bachelors of Photography, I look back on the path I have been traveling and understand that it has the ability to take me to places I can barely comprehend, giving me hope that there is still more inspiration to be uncovered.
