Traditions

"Annual celebration of Navro'z"
Uzbek people are one of the most kind, caring and hospitable nations in the world. Uzbekistan has a lot of different traditions and customs which have been shaped through the years and are being delivered through generations. One of the most important traditions is celebrating Eastern New Year "Navro'z". This is one of the most ancient and widespread holidays in eastern life. On this day every single person would be happy and people gather to celebrate this holiday. Together they make different delicious foods and snacks which they share with neighbors and poor as the symbol of their hospitality and kindness. Sumalak, Halim, Samsa, Halva and other delicious meals would decorate every single table spread for this event.
One of the most important traditions of Uzbek nation is showing respect to both old and young people. Unlike the most western families, the traditional Uzbek families do not live separately from their parents. The bride and groom live with groom's parents after their marriage. It is a very significant process in young bride's life as her mother-in-law would become her second mother for the rest of her life. In our mentality children and young should care old people and help them to do household tasks.
