The Varsity Women are coming off a successful 2006 rowing
season, placing second in the DII/DIII division at the Dad Vail
National Championship Regatta. This year's team is comprised of a
Varsity 8 with six returning rowers as well as a Varsity Pair. So far
this season, the Varsity Women's 8 has placed second only once--to
Dowling, the top DII boat in the nation, which includes five rowers
from the Polish National Team.
Thanks to the support of Student Senate, the Women's team was
able to purchase a 2007 Hudson Lightweight 8. The boat was named after
former coaches, Chad and Brie Jedlic. The Jedlic's was christened March
31 at the Lubbers Cup Regatta. The Varsity Women went on to defeat
Notre Dame, MSU, Western Ontario, and Northern Michigan to earn the
boat's first win.
