Gymnastics:
A Look at the Backhandspring

If we break the skill down, there are four parts:
Sit
Jump
Handstand
Snap down

Entire skill

Part number one is the sit.  Here we can see the subject sitting with chest straight up and eyes forward.  legs should make a 90 degree angle.  TOP

Part number two is the jump.  We see the subject jumping and thrusting her hips to the air so that her body is in a bridge in the air.  Her head is between her arms and her legs are together.  Squeezing the buttocks will push the hips further into the air.   TOP

Part number three is the handstand.  The most important thing about this stage is the head placement.  the head must be directly between the arms so that the back is straight.  Continuing to squeeze the buns and stomach will produce a body that is straight up and down.   TOP

The final part of the backhandspring is the snap down.  Here you squeeze your stomach to pull your legs straight to the ground.  You would then throw your arms to the ceiling in a nice finishing fashion.   TOP

Here we can see a clip of the entire backhandspring with a back tuck added at the end. TOP
