Lakewood Volleyball History

Lakewood Volleyball began to gain state recognition in 1994 when they received their first ever state ranking (10th) and from there it has been no looking back. The next season 1995 Lakewood made it all the way to the state finals before falling to Stevensville Lakeshore. The Lancers of Lakeshore would end up becoming Lakewood’s biggest rival in the state. The teams at Lakewood enter every season with the dream of becoming the school’s first ever volleyball state champions and hopefully one day that dream becomes realized.  Lakewood has won 20 District Championships, 10 Regional Championships, appeared in 4 Final Fours, and been State Runner-Up one time.  Lakewood has also been blessed with many All-State Players. None of these great accomplishments however would be possible with out great coaches and Lakewood has had 3 exceptional ones.

* Beginning in 2007 the MHSAA changed the volleyball season to the fall rather than the winter thus resulting in the volleyball season of 2007Winter and 2007Fall to take place in the same calendar year.
