THE INTERNATIONAL CLUB PRESENTS:
AN ESSAY CONTEST
GLOBAL MINDS, THOUGHTS ON THE CATASTROPHE

Sponsored by the International Business Department, 
Padnos International Center and the University Bookstore.

PURPOSE:

To give the students of Grand Valley the opportunity to express their opinions and feelings about the September 11th Tragedy in NYC.

IDEAS TO BE CONSIDERED (NOT LIMITED TO):

- The root causes of the events.
- US foreign policy and its global impact
- The impacts of religious extremism on the world
- The influence of the events on society
- Prevention of Hate Crimes

CRITERIA:

- 3-5 pages, double-spaced
- Due November 16th.   Please return your essay at the Padnos International Center, Room 105, Student Services   
  Building to the front desk, or ask for Kate Stoetzner to personally give it to her.

PRIZES:

- gift certificates (1st: $65, 2nd: $35, 3rd: $25)
- certificate of merit from GVSU
- 20% discount from UBS for participants.  This will be give to you when turning in the essay.

JUDGES:

All papers will be read and judged by GVSU faculty members.
