About The Partners

 

Mr. Robert Jensen, President. Mr. Jensen holds a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice and an M.A. Degree in Public Administration. He retired in March 1999 from the Michigan Department of Corrections after 31 years experience and after working in virtually all areas of corrections including probation, parole, corrections centers, and prisons. From 1987 through 1999, he was the Deputy Warden of a 960-bed prison. Mr. Jensen has been involved in conducting various kinds of training for law enforcement personnel, corrections professionals, community agency staffs, and other members of the criminal justice community including the judiciary, prosecutors, and defense attorneys. He also has extensive experience in writing proposals for the construction of and program development for new correctional facilities, and in the development of emergency response plans. He is a past president of the Michigan Corrections Association.

Dr. Richard Happel, Vice President for Treatment Services & Corporate Finance. Richard Happel, Ed.D. (Dick) holds graduate and undergraduate degrees, as well as a specialty certificate, in the areas of counseling psychology, philosophy, theology and substance abuse treatment from Western Michigan University, Eden Theological Seminary, and Elmhurst College. In addition, he holds licenses and certificates from the Michigan Boards of Counseling, Psychology, and Social Work, as well as the National Board for Counselor Certification. Most recently, Dick retired from the Michigan Department of Corrections were he was employed as the Lead Psychologist for a 960-bed prison facility. At the prison, he had overall responsibility for all psychological services, and played a leadership role in creating one of the state’s most comprehend-sive sex offender treatment programs. He also administered the program’s annual budget, its aftercare program, and community training component. In-service training is an area in which Dick has particular expertise and considerable experience, and for IMTS he has written extensively in the areas of new program development, sex offender treatment in correctional settings, clergy sexual abuse and victim awareness education. Presently, Dick holds clinical membership in the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA), and he is on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Chapter of ATSA (MI-ATSA). Along with his IMTS partners, Dick is also on the Comprehensive Sex Offender Management Team for Kent County Michigan and the Board of Directors for the Office for the Study and Prevention of Violence at Grand Valley State University. Dick currently resides with his wife in Grand Rapids, MI and is very active in a large non-denominational church, serving on several church-related boards and committees. To the company Dick brings over thirty years of professional experience in the fields of correctional psychology, social work, and religious service.

Dr. Joseph Abramajtys, Vice President for Planning and Contracts. Dr. Abramajtys has a B.S. Degree in Zoology, an M.A. Degree in Labor and Industrial Relations, and a Ph.D. Degree in Philosophy and Experimental Education. He retired in May 1999 after 26 years experience with the Michigan Department of Corrections. The last 12 years were spent as the warden of two prisons, one a 1200 bed multi-level facility and the other a 960-bed sex offender management facility. The Michigan Department of Corrections has asked Dr. Abramajtys to conduct a number of special investigations and projects including the investigation of the 1980 riot at Jackson Prison, a staff murder in a prison, the development of take-over plans for a private prison in case of an emergency, development of a New Prison Opening Manual, and many others. He has conducted numerous trainings for such agencies as the U.S. Department of Defense, Central Intelligence Agency, National Institute of Corrections, National Institute of Justice, Michigan Department of Corrections, Michigan Department of Commerce, Grand Rapids Public Schools, and various private organizations. Dr. Abramajtys has also been very involved in writing and presenting new prison construction and program proposals, and is a specialist in organizational needs assessment, and emergency response and strategic planning.
