STANDARD I - Creativity and Innovation
Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and
develop innovative products and processes using technology. Students:
a) apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes.
b) create original works as a means of personal or group expression.
c) use models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues.
d) identify trends and forecast possibilities.
In The Classroom
a) For this one needs to be
able to use things in which they already know how to use in order to
create something new or generate some new ideas. Students benefit
from this by understanding how to use a certain program for a variety
of things. Going into the education field it is important for
teachers to understand all the applications in which a program is
capable of. How you can use Microsoft Word to create articles, import pictures and import a graph from Microsoft Excel.
b) As a community it is
important to share ideas, feelings and be able to express yourself
freely. It is important for students to create original works and
be able to discuss with the class at any time. Technology can
help with this especially Pod cast, Digital Stories, or even short movies using a digital movie player. What is a Digital Story?
c) Basically every student
will need the basic skill of being able to explore complex systems and
issues. A site great for exploration, learning and interacting i
have found is Second Life. An on line database set up for people to basically learn from anywhere there is a computer and Internet access.
d) As a teacher it is
important to be up to date with new technology and new ideas that are
continually popping up on the web. Sometimes not every teacher
has the time to explore and find out new things and there is actually a
great tool called Web 2.0 that will
greatly help anybody. Students can also utilize this tool for new
information on certain subjects they may be interested in or just grasp
a better understanding of current topics in the world.
