• The earliest known panda bears were no larger than house cats and eventually grew to their size over millions of years.

• The Giant Panda is the most expensive zoo species in captivity; 5 times more costly than Elephants.

• The entire population of Giant Pandas are owned by China alone.

• Panda cubs don't open their eyes until they are 6 to 8 weeks old and aren't mobile until 3 months.

• Pandas may climb as high as 4,000 meters to feed at higher ground.

• Pandas have an extra finger called the "pseudo-thumb" that helps them tear apart bamboo.

• Despite their relaxed lifestyle, Pandas are excellent tree-climbers and good swimmers.

• Newborn cubs are blind and hairless, weighing about 3 to 5 ounces.
