Giant Pandas; The Zebra Bear

Being
a member of the bear family, The Giant Panda is known as the
black-and-white bear. Having only black detailed extremities, the rest
of their fur is white. As cute as pandas are, they have the body and
strength of any other bear and can be just as dangerous. Standing up,
they can reach 4 to six feet in height. Males are larger than females,
weighing in at about 250 pounds, while females aren't much smaller,
weighing around 220 pounds. On average, Giant Pandas can live to be as
old as 35. However, Giant Pandas are an endangered species. There are
about 1,600 in the wild and more than 300 in zoos and breeding centers.
As fascinating and cute as they are, there is still much to be learned
about the Giant Panda so it is important we keep them around for as
long as possible.
