Core Services

Assessment
For most people, understanding their skills and interests is the first step to finding a job. You can meet with Goodwill professionals to discuss work experience and goals, identify your strengths and outline a plan for developing the skills you need to succeed in your chosen career.

Training
Because people come from diverse skill and educational backgrounds, Goodwill offers a range of short-term and long-term training options for jobs in specific industries such as manufacturing, hospitality, custodial, retail or health care. Goodwill also offers in-depth workshops that will teach you the skills necessary for succeeding in the workplace, such as office etiquette, preparing for an interview, and handling conflict in the workplace.

Job Placement
When you are ready to apply for jobs, Goodwill provides resources to help you conduct job searches, write resumes, and practice your interviewing skills.

Job Retention
Starting a new job will often present challenges if you are not used to balancing work with other responsibilities. Goodwill staff will regularly consult with you on how to handle situations such as crises at home or understanding employer expectations. In some cases, more intensive services such as on-site job coaching are offered.

Support Services
In order to stay employed, you may seek out additional services such as transportation or counseling. Goodwill offers some of these services, and also serves as a primary link between you and other service providers within the community.
