Parent/Teacher Information

Due to the popularity of police dramas such as CSI and Law and Order, students find crime scenes and other police related topics very intriguing. The purpose of this site is to harness the interest students have in this topic and use this interest to teach problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Unfortunately, most of the materials available have a target audience of high schoolers or adults. Due to their often graphic content, these materials are not suitable for younger students. Therefore, this site was designed specifically for those students in 3rd through 6th grades.

This site is broken down into four main areas. First, details of the crime are given to the students. Next, three suspects are presented. Then three pieces of evidence are given to the young detectives. Finally, the solution is provided.

Many students may be able to follow the set path of the site and solve the crime with no additional guidance. Others may need some direction. For this reason, a worksheet has been provided to assist these students.
