La Havana, La Havana (Image on right) La
Havana the third largest metropolitan city in the Caribbean is the
larges city in Cuba. It is the major port of all of Cuba's shipping and
receiving. It is a wonderful city to spend the day in to learn about
the rich history and culture of the country. Its architecture has a very European feel and Havana has a lot of unique monuments.
Jagüey Grande, Matanzas (Image on left) Jagüey
Grande is a city that has captured my heart; more for its people than
for the city itself. It is a small city (but relatively large for
Cuba). It has a baseball stadium where the people love to spend their
free time watching games. There is also a plaza where people pass time
together and can even spend the whole day talking. Time is different
here; it is really relaxed and rarely punctual. At night on the
weekends everybody goes dancing at the clubs.
La Playa Girón, Matanzas (Image on right) La
Playa Girón is a city located on the southern coast of Cuba. It is know
for two main things; having one of the largest swamps in the world and
the Bay of Pigs. It is a beautiful place to lay on the soft sandy
beaches all day and watch the turquoise waves come in. There is also a
small museum here about the Bay of Pigs and the Cold War. | ![]() |
