広島市, Hiroshima-shi, Hiroshima (Image on right) Hiroshima is best known for being the victim of an atomic bombing by the U.S. during World War II in 1945. Hiroshima is now a beautiful city with the calm Ota river running through it. It is a peaceful setting for the memorials for those who lost their life during the bombing. It is a wonderful place to spend the day and learn about history in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum or to pay ones respects in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. | |
![]() | 京都市, Kyōto-shi, Kyōto-fu (Image on left) Kyoto is an exciting city on the southern end of Japan's largest inland fresh water lake, Biwa. It was Japan's old imperial city. Now it is a great place to enjoy traditional Japanese culture but still be in a large modern city. Here there are many great traditional restaurants to eat in and many beautiful temples and shrines to visit (i.e. Temple of the Golden Pavilion as pictured on the left). Also there are many great places to go shopping in Kyoto or to relax and watch a play or movie in a theater. |
