Nancy L. Harper, Ph.D.
Project Director of the Alcohol Education,
Research, and Training Laboratories (ALERT), Professor of Organizational
and Health Communication, and former Dean of Social Sciences at GVSU.
Dr. Harper has 27 years experience as a university faculty member, including
17 years in university administration. She has authored books on communication
theory and on the unique clusters approach to academic and
career advising.
She has also conducted research and published monographs
on these topics and on applied organizational and media communication.
Dr. Harper specializes in the study of persuasive communication.
Professor Karen Libman, MFA
Associate Professor of Theatre in the School
of Communications
Professor Libman directs and teaches courses in directing, acting, theatre
for social change, and theatre for young audiences/theatre education.
She conceived the Family Audiences series for Nebraska Repertory Theatre
in Lincoln, NE, and the Outreach Theatre Program, a peer theatre group,
at UNL. She has a variety of national directing credits.
Andy Beachnau, Ed.D.
Director of Housing/Health Services
Mr. Beachnau is responsible for the overall leadership and administration
for the on-campus housing system. Dr. Beachnau has been at GVSU since
1982 and has been involved in a variety of alcohol education programming
initiatives for resident students.
He also teaches in the graduate program in College Student Affairs Leadership
for the School of Education at GVSU.
Brenda Reeves, Ph.D.
Director of Health, Recreation and Wellness
Ms. Reeves is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation
of all campus wellness programs and services.
She has a diverse background in health education and promotion which includes
hospital-based, community, corporate and university experiences.
Diana Pace, Ph.D.
Director of University Counseling
Mrs. Pace is responsible for a staff of licensed psychologists who serve
the 18,500+ students enrolled at GVSU.
She oversees the trainers who offer the Alcohol College Education program
to students who have been cited for alcohol offenses.
She and her counselors meet in one-on-one assessment sessions with students
and her office provides extended counseling to students who are problem
drinkers or alcoholics.
Eric Klingensmith
Post-Doctoral Resident in Clinical Psychology at
GVSU's Counseling and Career Development Center
Mr. Klingensmith's clinical interests and expertise include stress management,
crisis management, disaster mental health, critical incident stress management,
health and wellness psychology, and personal development.
He is the lead facilitator for the Counseling Centers ACE Program
and is a certified TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) trainer.
