MORE ABOUT THE MUSIC!

Musical experience & credibility are essential to the work of a music teacher.

I have always tried to seek out musical opportunities that would help

me to develop the many facets of overall musicianship.

Solo Selections

Singing is truly an art that can be utilized in many different ways. Whether it’s in the singing a classical recital, on stage performances, at choral concerts or even some good old-fashioned Karaoke, music is truly a wonderful treasure to share with audiences and students alike. Below, are a wide variety of vocal selections (mp3 format) that I have performed in several different venues. You’ll find everything from opera and Broadway (my favorite) to pop/rock and country. Listen and enjoy!

Choral Experience & Arrangements

From1999 to 2003 I had the pleasure to perform with the Kalamazoo Singers. During my time with that group I was able to develop my skills a choral musician and solo performer. I also, however had the unique opportunity to arrange several full chorus works for public performance by that group.

voices were two basses. . .The second,

was Christopher Bee, who showed

remarkable power in his rendition of

Since working with the Kalamazoo Singers, I have continued my choral pursuits by singing with The Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Opera Grand Rapids and two Choirs at Grand Valley State University (University Arts Chorale and Varsity Men). As part of my participation on many of these ensembles, I have often arranged music for choirs. Some works are for advanced choir, while others might work well for a moderate high school ensemble. Below is a sampling of choral arrangements I have written for several occasions.  Click on the Name of the work to view the score (using Adobe acrobat reader). The scores are not "print-ready" (they contain some errors) to discourage copyright infringement. I will be looking to start a buisness providing music services (arranging composing, transribing and transposing) in the near future.

Musical Theatre

I have also participated in Many Musical Theatre Productions throughout West Michigan. Most notably, I have the opportunity to play Judas (with the Paw Paw Village Players in 2002) and Jesus (with the Grand Haven Central Park Players in 2003) in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar.

“ Playing the opposite of Judas, in the title role of Jesus, is Christopher Bee, who delivered an astonishing performance ,displaying a broad vocal range with an intensity and volume unparalleled by the rest of the cast . . . He is the star of the Show"

IDOL COMPETITIONS

A little friendly competition never hurt anyone. In the 2003 “Hometown Idol” presented by the Twin-cities Jaycees, singers compete for a chance to record a single with a local west Michigan band, “Willamena.” Much like the hit TV-show “American Idol”, victory is all about the votes. Although scoring the highest judge’s core of all 60 participants, the final outcome would not reflect it. As an interesting post script to this story, my wife and I were able to attend the2003 “American Idol” finale, LIVE in Los Angeles as a prize for winning the “WKFR Idol” singing competition held, not 3 weeks after “Hometown Idol.” Here’s what the local Kalamazoo Gazette had to say. . .

"But most amazingly, Christopher Bee didn't make it

into the winner’s circle. Bee, a 26-year-old choral

arranger from Kalamazoo came out with all guns

blazing on a near-operatic “God Bless the USA” by

Lee Greenwood. By the time he ripped off his jacket

and tear- away shirt to reveal a US flag tee-shirt,

he had the audience in a patriotic fervor. . . .”

In 2005, I participated in the "Allendale Idol” competition hosted by the Delta-Zetas. Although I took 3rd that time around, I actually won the contest the following year (2006) by singing “Music of the Night" from the Phantom of the Opera
