In regards to the variety show, details are still being worked out, so be patient and we'll let you know! Finally, as always, be sure to come to the weekly STAGE meetings on Tuesdays at 9pm in Manitou 102 for the latest and most recent news.

First STAGE Meeting of 2010

Welcome back everyone! We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable break. As we begin a new semester, just want to make everone aware of the first meeting of the year! The meeting will be Tuesday, January 12th at 9pm in Manitou 102. There are some important changes to STAGE and our E-board this year, so this is a meeting you don't want to miss! Hope to see you there!

Successful SOAP Peformances

Congratulations to all cast and crew of this year's SOAPs! All one-acts went well and the overall show was a success. The audience loved it and we STAGE members had fun! Thanks to all who participated, and congrats again for a job well done! Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving break!

Tech Week Updates

As you all know, SOAPs are this weekend already! Tech week is NOW! Here are the latest times and locations for tech week practices:

Monday: 4pm - 7pm, Cook DeWitt
Tuesday: 7pm - 10pm, Cook DeWitt
Wednesday: 7pm - 10pm, Cook DeWitt
Thursday: 10pm - 12am, Grand River Room (Kirkhof)

Remember that these practices and eventual dress rehearsals are for everyone and that all cast and crew for all shows are expected to attend all rehearsals. If there are any conflicts, be sure to report them to your director and/or Max. Thanks, see you soon, and break a leg!

SOAPs are Next Weekend!

STAGE's annual SOAP production is next weekend. Be sure to promote this event to friends and families! We want a solid audience! Check out the Future Showdates Page for more details. Also, we will be having a table set up in Kirkhof next Friday, November 20 (opening day), from 10am to 1pm to promote our show.

Director Updates and Other Opportunities

The rehearsals and progress of our five one-act plays for SOAPs seem to be going fairly well. Directors keep bringing positive news to meetings and keeping us up-to-date regarding their status. Also, Ryan McKernan needs interested parties to help out with a film project to create an opening sequence for his one-act, "Spyamese Twins." If you are interested in this short film project to add an extra quality to the show, contact Ryan at mckernanr@gmail.com. As one final announcement, STAGE members are also needed for poster development and advertising. If anyone would like to be in a picture(s) for one of the advertising posters, let us know at stage@mail.gvsu.edu and keep checking your e-mail for a time and location. Thanks everyone for your continued effort to make our shows successful, and have a great week!

Important Room Change for STAGE Meetings

Notice to all STAGE members! A permanent room change is in effect starting next meeting! From now on, STAGE meetings will take place at the same time on Tuesday nights, but will be held in Manitou Room 102. Be sure to pass the word, and we'll see you next week!

Director Interviews, SOAP Script Submission Deadline, SOAP Auditions

SOAP script submissions were already due; if you still were working on something but did not yet submit it, consider saving it and adapting it for a future show. Director interviews, for those interested in directing one of the SOAP performances, have also already occured, but be sure to still try out as an actor for SOAPs or get involved in some other way if you did not get a director role. To those interested in performing in our annual SOAPs - audtions will be held Thursday, October 8th, in the PAC, Room 1506 at 7:00pm. Don't sweat it; audtions are laid back, cold readings, so come and just have fun (and do your best, or course)! Finally, at the next STAGE meeting (at the same time and location) we will be having a Directing workshop that is open to all STAGE members, not just directors. Have a great week and see you soon at one of the many above events!

STAGE Meeting and Acting Workshop

Just a quick reminder that our next meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday September 29, in Padnos 211 at 9pm. We will also be having an acting workshop so be prepared to learn some new things and have a good time! Also, the next Writer's Guild meeting will be on Wednesday, same time, same place: Kirkhof 1104 at 10 PM. See you all soon!

Latest Updates and Upcoming Stuff

First of all, props to all of our new members! We had a great first meeting and it was awesome to get to see so many new people, so thanks for joining us! As for some announcements: Next Tuesday, September 22nd, will be our next STAGE meeting, in Padnos 211 @ 9pm. Know that time and location, learn it, love it - that's where all STAGE meetings will be for the year. Also, at the next meeting will be our first workshop of the year in Improv - be there!

Other workshops include an Acting workshop on Sept 29th and a Directing workshop on Oct 26th, both during the regularly scheduled STAGE meetings.

Also, the script submission deadline for our first show of the year, our annual SOAPs, is at the beginning of October, so be sure to keep writing and revising some awesome scripts. Speaking of scripts, be sure to check out Writer's Guild to create the best script possible. The Writer's Guild weekly meetings are Wednesdays at 10pm in Kirkhof 1104. Feel free to bring any materials or even just ideas - Writer's Guild is the place that masterpieces are formed!

Next Meeting: E-Board Elections - IMPORTANT!

We've been talking about it all year, and the time is finally here. Our E-Board is graduating in a matter of weeks, and we need you, STAGE members, to carry on the STAGE tradition! Next Tuesday night, April 7th, will be officer elections for our E-Board. All positions are available to run for, and details of responsibilities can be found on the E-Board page. Remember that the E-Board is a group effort, and we're all in it together. Please consider running for a position, and be prepared to briefly discuss what you can offer STAGE if elected. Also, to everyone, please attend next week's meeting! Anyone who has been a part of show or been to a meeting can vote, and we value your input. Plus there will be punch and pie! Don't miss it! See you next week!

More Successful Shows

As many of you know, we recently performed our annual Variety Show, and it was great! We also just performed our One-Act Plays. Both performances were successful and all involved had a great time. The audiences turnout was decent, and we definitely got some laughs! Congratulations to all cast and crew for making this happen and being part of more classic STAGE shows! And thank you to all who participated!

No STAGE Meetings

Just a reminder to all STAGE members: There will be no regular meetings for the next two weeks due to tech weeks for our shows. The next STAGE meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 31. Don't forget to consider running for an E-Board position!

Lighting Workshop

We are hosting a lighting workshop this Sunday, March 15 at 9:15 pm in KIRK 1142. We advise directors, people interested in tech, and other people who plan to be involved with STAGE; it is good information to have and a great help to everyone when we have tech weeks and shows.

There's still lots of planning and behind the scenes that need done, so if you'd like to help, let us know! Also, the showdates for both performances have been determined; see the Future Showdates page or above for more details.

SPAM and Full-Length Info : Dates and Locations

Script submissions for both SPAM and the Full-Length are due on Tuesday, January 20th. If you have any material at all, send it in! They can be hand-delivered to an E-Board member or e-mailed to STAGE at stage@student.gvsu.edu.

Director's interviews are for those who have an interest in directing one of these shows, and they will be held on Wednesday, January 21st at 9pm. They will be held in Kirkhof 2228.

Sunday's auditions are in Kirkhof 1104, and Monday's auditions are in Kirkhof 2263.

Congratulations to Luke and Justin

Many well wishes and congratulations are sent to Luke Madden and Justin Pitt upon their graduation. Thanks for all you've done for STAGE; we will miss you both! Also, extra congrats to Luke for receiving an award for his poetry in the Literary Edition of the Lanthorn!

Elections for Next Year's E-Board - Treasurer Info

Because most of the current E-Board officers will be graduating next semester, we will need to elect new officers at the end of next semester. Presently, if anyone has any interest in becoming treasurer (more details regarding this position can be found on the E-Board page) next year, there will be an opportunity for you to attend a budget meeting in February. Talk to our current treasurer Joan for more info.

Final STAGE Meeting of the Semester

Tuesday, December 2nd, was this year's last STAGE meeting. Lots of great stuff was discussed and we look forward to next semester's events. Good luck as everyone approaches finals week and have a safe and happy holiday season! And to our STAGE graduates - congratulations and best of luck! We'll miss you!

This Year's Successful SOAP Production

As most of you know, this year's production of SOAP was just wrapped up a little while ago. The performances were great, the audience enjoyed it, and everyone had a swell time! Congratulations to all cast and crew for another successful STAGE event!
