Dorm Room Music Production |
Software * Hardware * Personal |
With the recent advances in computer technology starting around the turn of the new millennium, music production and home recording has become easier than ever-almost anyone can do it. The only necessities are some sort of recording hardware device, this can range from a computer with a standard operating system to any kind of standalone interface, recording software (if using a computer,) a microphone and appropriate cables, an operating space, musical inspiration, and a little hidden talent. Most programs today have a very user-friendly quality about them and can be easily operated "right out of the box." The complexity begins when both music software and external hardware devices are paired and combined. While at first this may be overwhelming, in the long run it makes production easier with a more hands-on approach, and allows for more extensive and intricate work.
"Contrary
to the newer/faster/better culture that permeates the recording-equipment
industry, you can record a really good-sounding CD with minimal tools."
