STAGE History

A Brief Summary of How We Came to Be

STAGE was originally founded in 1995. It was created by students mainly with a love for theatre as a whole, but more specifically with a desire to promote student-written work in a theatre setting. Since its foundation, the group has evolved immensely.  It was once affiliated with GVSU’s mainstage productions, but has now branched out on its own.  Within the past few years, officer positions have doubled, whereas before, there were barely enough people to fill the executive board.  The GVSU improvisational group Pseudo came out of STAGE, and we have our own writing organization, Writer's Guild.  The group used to have dues, but now it is free to join!
